I'm going to do a longer write-up on this but for now I'm just going to briefly go over the three (yes three) motorcycle accidents I've been in:
- the only car-on-motorcycle accident I've been in is when I was T-boned by a 92 year old great-grandmother driving a Taurus. The accident was ruled to be her fault and it's been the only accident I've been in where a bike got totalled.
- the only accident so far I've been at-fault on was motorcycle-on...well, motorcycle-on-empty-dirt-patch. I had just finished taking a gentle turn at 35 MPH and wiped out on the straight-away, for reasons I'm not even sure of (conditions were just about perfect for riding, which is why we were riding in the first place). Fortunately it was a soft accident so I wasn't hurt, but it was enough to screw the bike up to the point where I had to flag down a passerby and limp the bike to his place so he can repair it.
- and then there's the motorcycle-on-motorcycle accident. Yup. My own riding partner really wasn't paying attention and rammed his bike into my bike (which was his bike to begin with) at an intersection. *rolleyes*

I think at this point I've been in 4 accidents
1. My first bike, a 1982 Virago 750, had WAY too much torque. First time riding it I popped the clutch and it ran away from me. I was unharmed and the bike got a few scratches
2. First time riding my CBR1000 in the rain I gave just a hair too much throttle in a low speed corner and spun up the back wheel. I got a few bruises and the bike got a few scratched and cracked plastics
3. I went way too deep into a corner on my scooter
4. I went way too deep into a corner on my scooter

Riding a motorcycle would scare me to death. I wrecked my bicycle when I was fourteen and screwed up my arm real badly... there's still residual damage and it'll never be quite the same.
So getting on a bike with more power just seems like a bad idea for me. It seems fun, but I just can't get into it.

My only one was sitting at a stop sign about 30 ft from my house. Right turn from stop and my rear just went away on the slightly damp painted stop line. I was super fortunate to be wearing a helmet because my head whacked the 90 degree curb pretty hard.

I've had 2.
First time I laid my bike down turning a corner at 10 mph because I hit a patch of dirt on the road. Bent shifter and scraped leg.
The second time I was riding in the mountains on a road I had never been on before and took a turn too fast and couldn't keep it on the road.
This is the initial rescue team putting me on a backboard.
It took 3 hours to get out of there because they had to call a climbing crew with a basket that was 45 minutes away. I ended up with only a broken collar bone, sprained ankle and a totaled bike. My helmet and armored jacket saved my bacon.
